What to know about polished concrete floors
Polished concrete is the slab itself, ground and polished in stages and sealed, with no coating on top.
Every floor starts with the concrete it goes on. The slab is checked, cracks and old coatings are dealt with, and the system is chosen for how the space is used.
The slab is the floor
Nothing sits on top to peel. The look comes from the concrete you have, cracks and patches included.
Sheen levels
From a low satin to a high gloss, set by how far the polishing goes. Ask to see the levels side by side.
Where it suits
Showrooms, offices, shops and living spaces with a sound, flat slab.
When a coating suits better
A slab with heavy damage, patches or moisture often looks better with a coating. The walkthrough decides it.

Questions
Can any concrete floor be polished?
Most sound slabs can, but the result shows what is in the concrete: cracks, patches and old stains stay visible. If the slab is badly damaged, a coating may give you the look you want instead. Ask to have the slab looked at first.
Is polished concrete slippery?
A polished floor is usually not slick when dry. Like most hard floors it gets slicker when wet, so ask about the sheen level and the sealer for entries and anywhere water gets on the floor.
